As mentioned in the last entry just over a year ago the Entomology, Herpetology, Botany, and Birds and Mammals Departments of the San Diego Natural History Museum conducted another one of our periodic binational expeditions to the Baja California peninsula. During these expeditions we are joined in the field by our Mexican counterparts. For entomology we were joined by Dr. Maria Jimenez and Julieta Maya from the research institution CIBNOR in La Paz, Baja California Sur. We collected specimens by pitfall, pan, and malaise traps as well as black lighting, beating and sweeping with hand nets. After having time to sort and working to identify specimens it seems we have among known species an additional two undescribed species of spiders, including one new genus of ctenid, and at least two confirmed new membracid treehoppers and perhaps and perhaps several insects awaiting confirmation as undescribed species. These are noted in the photo captions as new species= sp.n. and new genus= gen. n. More later as time allows. Thanks.
